Hydralyte® and Hydralyte® Sports are both clinical products. The difference is that Hydralyte® Sports is specifically formulated for sport and exercise. The Hydralyte® Sports formulation is low in sugar (2%) and high in electrolytes. It differs from Hydralyte®, as it contains 6 additional trace elements which are lost in sweat during sport and exercise – magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, manganese, and copper.

Rapid hydration is best achieved by a hypotonic solution that is low in carbohydrates (2–3%) and high in electrolytes (such as sodium). Based on our review of literature and expert opinion, we believe that hypotonic hydration solutions are superior for water uptake and stomach comfort.

Hydralyte® Sports differs from standard sports drinks as it is high in electrolytes (such as sodium and potassium) and low in sugar (2%). Standards sports drinks are generally high in sugar (6–8%). Hydralyte® Sports also includes additional elements magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, manganese and copper, lost through sweat during sport and exercise.

The average osmolality is 260 mOsm/kg. Hydralyte® Sport is hypotonic to blood (osmolality 280–300 mOsm/kg). Hypotonic glucose-electrolyte solutions are recommended for effective rehydration.

We do not recommend you use the product beyond its expiry date.

Any residue is due to the natural colour, beta carotene.

Yes, however the Sodium content needs to be considered in pregnant women so please consult your healthcare professional.

We cannot recommend Hydralyte® Sports to children under the age of 13 years.
